small acorns...

So, finally I have made a sale on Etsy! One of my vintage damask ticking bags is winging it's way to the States as I write! It's very exciting, this world-wide marketplace! x

Donc, finalement, j'ai fait une vente sur Etsy! Une de mes sacs fabriqué avec  toile à matelas damassé  est décollement son chemin aux États Unis que j'écris! C'est très excitant, ce marché dans le monde entier! x

Trouvailles in Toulouse...

In the summer I took my 14 yr old daughter to Toulouse, to try and instill the virtues of this fun-loving place into a possible University city choice. After days of traipsing round every possible fashion shop, and a few art galleries later, we stumbled across the vintage shops at the end of one of the lanes. She wasn't impressed...pre-owned clothes held no great excitement for her. However I persevered, and lo, she found a Ralph Lauren stripy Breton top, and some 70's Lacoste tennis shorts, so maybe we have finally broken new ground!

I, on the other hand was in heaven.... the only limit was what I was able to carry, and the vintage curtain section was pure heaven. My favorite purchase was this huge length of cotton, which I am sure must be either early Orla Kiely or at least must have been some of her inspiration! 

 

 

En été, j'ai pris ma fille âgée de 14 ans à Toulouse, à essayer d'inculquer les vertus de ce lieu ludique dans un choix possible de la cité universitaire. Après que les jours de se promènent autour de chaque magasin mode possible, quelques galeries d'art et plus tard, nous avons trébuché à travers les boutiques vintage à la fin d'une des allées. Elle n'était pas impressionnée... vêtements d'occasion qui s'est tenues à aucune grande excitation pour elle. Cependant, j'ai persévéré et beh oui, elle a trouvé un haut Breton rayé Ralph Lauren, et certaines années 70 shorts de tennis Lacoste, alors peut-être que nous avons enfin innové !

J'ai, quant à elle été dans le ciel... la seule limite était ce que j'ai pu effectuer, et la section vintage Rideau ciel pur. Mon achat préféré était cet énorme longueur de coton, qui j'en suis sûr doit être soit précoce Orla Kiely ou au moins doit avoir été certains de son inspiration !

 

So, now it has been re-fashioned into various items, one of which I gave to my sister-in law for Christmas, and it matched perfectly the Orla Kiely purse that her husband had bought for her. Fate!

 

Donc, maintenant il a été re-façonné en différents choses, et  j'ai donnéun  à ma belle-sœur pour Noël, et elle correspondait parfaitement la porte monnaie Orla Kiely que son mari avait acheté pour elle. Destin !

A little bit of red linen.

I came across just a small snippet of this gorgeous linen, enough to make 2 bags. One has pompoms and is lined in red damask, ooh la la! The other is a tad more demure, no pompoms and is lined with striped vintage mattress ticking. £34 each + delivery, just drop me a line x

Je suis tombée sur juste un petit coupon de cette toile magnifique, assez pour faire deux sacs. Un a pompons et est bordée de damas rouge, ooh la la! Christmas gifts for girlies

Christmas bling!

Been busy stocking up on Christmas glitz over the summer ready for the upcoming Christmas market season. I am well stocked now with crystals, goblets and chandeliers all ready to add some glamour to your festive season. Markets at Brantôme 25th Nov, Longeveau 1st Dec, Villetoureix 15th Dec. Come along for some silver and sparkles!

 

J'ai été occupé s'approvisionner en paillettes de Noël durant l'été prêt pour la saison à venir du marché de Noël. Je suis bien approvisionné maintenant avec des cristaux, des gobelets et des lustres tous prêts à ajouter un peu de glamour à votre saison des fêtes. Marchés à Brantôme 25 novembre, Longeveau 1 décembre, Villetoureix 15 décembre. Venez le long pour certains l'argent et des étincelles!

 

Ma Belle Mère...

...kindly gave me a bundle of Cath Kidson patchwork fabrics for my birthday. They have sat quietly in the armoire in the hallway for a couple of months, patiently waiting for a burst of creative energy...

 

...and that moment has arrived! No longer is it a bundle of fat quarters ( term for a specific size area of fabric, not referring to my rear!), but behold, 38 children's bibs, and 10 glasses/ pencil cases! All in time for Christmas markets....

 

The bibs are interfaced with a thick cotton to aid soaking up spills, and are fully reversible ( rear sides are co-ordinated in gingham or checks) and are 6.50€ each. The glasses cases are also nicely padded, close with a magnetic fastener and have a decorative button to finish ( naturally Cath Kidson as well!) There are just 10 glasses cases, all different, so for buying purposes I have laid them out in 2 rows of 5, let's number them 1-10, and I have photographed the set from all 3 sides to show the fabric variations. These are 8.50€ each. Worldwide postage possible.

Christmas tree?

I've been busy getting things finished for all the up-coming Christmas markets, and stumbled across a vintage bottle drying rack at a local vide grenier. It cleaned up well, sprayed silver and is now filled to the brim with lavender filled keyrings and tassles, it looks almost like a mini Christmas tree. All I need now is a fairy for the top!
(Keyrings are 3€ each)
