Cooking aprons...in time for Bake Off!

A new batch of ladies cooking aprons, fully reversible, with velcro fastenings around the neck and long ties around the waist. Cotton fabrics throughout, machine washable at 40*. One size fits all. £20 each plus postage. Three, two, one, get baking....

Nice new bag...

I thought it was about time I made myself a new bag, instead of just selling them to other people!  A tricky decision when I have quite so many fabrics to choose from, so I decided to go under-stated, NOT!

Annie Sloan painting classes

So, with a selection of old wooden hooks and architraves ready at hand, I launched into my first Annie Sloan chalk paint lesson, and over the course of a couple of sessions painted and distressed and waxed various items back to life. Now I have a very happy client, inspired and confident about adding some colour into old wooden items back at home! And it was fun!

Tour de France

The Tour de France just passed by here the other day, and Villamblard looked beautiful!

Have been out and about again at the crack of dawn, and truffled some lovely old French treasures for the brocante shop. It's looking lovely again x

50th birthday celebrations...

My lovely just celebrated his 50th birthday, and so we had our nearest and dearest for an Indian themed meal in the barn, surrounded by marigolds!

How very French!

This week had one of 3 of our National holidays in May, and so I took the opportunity to go to 5 brocantes! I went nice and early, vide grenier buddy in tow, and my purchase of the day had to be these vintage zinc finials. They match perfectly the ones on our roof, and are now fixed in their new home adding a fantastic finishing touch to our stone walls.
Later that day, a French friend came round to collect some acacia flowers to make beignets (doughnuts) and kindly parked her car behind one of the finials to make the perfect French photo!

Cette semaine était l'un des trois de nos fêtes nationales en mai, et je profite de l'occasion pour aller à 5 brocantes! Je suis allé agréable et tôt, vide grenier copain en remorque et mon achat de la journée devait être ces fleurons de zinc vintage. Ils correspondent parfaitement ceux sur notre toit, et sont maintenant fixés dans leur nouvelle maison en ajoutant une finition fantastique touche à nos murs en pierre.

Plus tard ce jour-là, un ami français est venu chez nous pour recueillir des fleurs d'acacia pour faire des beignets (doughnuts) et gentiment garé sa voiture derrière l'un des fleurons de faire la photo parfaite français!

27 years...

Pretty cushions for 2014

Having completely sold out of pretty pink cushions from last year I've started on a new set for 2014. They are 45cm square, and come with (or without, saving £2) the inner pad. Made in 100% cotton with an oversized button and pom pom trim. Each one is unique, although I can make similar repeats to match, as I still have most of the fabrics, although the repeat pattern may fall in a slightly different place. £22 each + £3.50 p and p.
They are numbered 1-5 for ease of identifying them. Enjoy!


Ayant complètement épuisé de coussins rose de l'année dernière, j'ai commencé sur une nouvelle série pour 2014. Ils sont 45cm carré, et sont livrés avec (ou sans, sauver £2) la plaquette intérieure. Fabriqué en 100% coton avec un bouton surdimensionné et pom pom garniture. Chacun est unique, même si je peux faire des répétitions similaires à l'avenant, comme je l'ai encore la plupart des tissus, bien que le motif de répétition peut tomber dans un endroit légèrement différent. £ 22 chacun + £ 3,50 livraison.
Elles sont numérotées 1-5 pour la facilité de les identifier. Amusez-vous!

Brocante season has started!

Yeh! The Brocante season is underway, and my Sunday mornings are mine again! Map in hand, small villages to discover and treasures to be found.
The shop is getting nice and full x

Yeh! La saison Brocante est en cours, et mes dimanches matins sont de nouveau à moi! Carte en main, de petits villages à découvrir et trésors à trouver.

So, finally I have made a sale on Etsy! One of my vintage damask ticking bags is winging it's way to the States as I write! It's very exciting, this world-wide marketplace! x

Donc, finalement, j'ai fait une vente sur Etsy! Une de mes sacs fabriqué avec  toile à matelas damassé  est décollement son chemin aux États Unis que j'écris! C'est très excitant, ce marché dans le monde entier! x

Trouvailles in Toulouse...

In the summer I took my 14 yr old daughter to Toulouse, to try and instill the virtues of this fun-loving place into a possible University city choice. After days of traipsing round every possible fashion shop, and a few art galleries later, we stumbled across the vintage shops at the end of one of the lanes. She wasn't impressed...pre-owned clothes held no great excitement for her. However I persevered, and lo, she found a Ralph Lauren stripy Breton top, and some 70's Lacoste tennis shorts, so maybe we have finally broken new ground!

I, on the other hand was in heaven.... the only limit was what I was able to carry, and the vintage curtain section was pure heaven. My favorite purchase was this huge length of cotton, which I am sure must be either early Orla Kiely or at least must have been some of her inspiration! 

 

 

En été, j'ai pris ma fille âgée de 14 ans à Toulouse, à essayer d'inculquer les vertus de ce lieu ludique dans un choix possible de la cité universitaire. Après que les jours de se promènent autour de chaque magasin mode possible, quelques galeries d'art et plus tard, nous avons trébuché à travers les boutiques vintage à la fin d'une des allées. Elle n'était pas impressionnée... vêtements d'occasion qui s'est tenues à aucune grande excitation pour elle. Cependant, j'ai persévéré et beh oui, elle a trouvé un haut Breton rayé Ralph Lauren, et certaines années 70 shorts de tennis Lacoste, alors peut-être que nous avons enfin innové !

J'ai, quant à elle été dans le ciel... la seule limite était ce que j'ai pu effectuer, et la section vintage Rideau ciel pur. Mon achat préféré était cet énorme longueur de coton, qui j'en suis sûr doit être soit précoce Orla Kiely ou au moins doit avoir été certains de son inspiration !

 

So, now it has been re-fashioned into various items, one of which I gave to my sister-in law for Christmas, and it matched perfectly the Orla Kiely purse that her husband had bought for her. Fate!

 

Donc, maintenant il a été re-façonné en différents choses, et  j'ai donnéun  à ma belle-sœur pour Noël, et elle correspondait parfaitement la porte monnaie Orla Kiely que son mari avait acheté pour elle. Destin !
